Austin, Texas – College Sports Communicators released the 2022-23 Academic All-America® at-large teams today, honoring the best and brightest in the NCAA in the sports of golf, lacrosse, wrestling, hockey, fencing, gymnastics, skiing, water polo, and volleyball. Northern State University wrestler and NCAA All-American
Wyatt Turnquist earned a spot of the NCAA Division II third team, as the 28th Wolf in school history to earn the award.
The Division II at-large teams honored 47 student-athletes, with the 15 members of the first team compiling a 3.96 cumulative GPA. That included three with 4.0 GPA's among a total of six on the three teams. The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division II Academic All-America® program.
Turnquist went 25-4 overall in 2022-23, earning the first NCAA All-American honors of his career. He placed third at the NCAA National Championships and added NSIC All-Conference first team, NWCA Scholar All-America, and CSC Academic All-District® honors to his season accolades. The Winner, S.D. native holds a 3.7 GPA as a member of the Millicent Atkins School of Education. He is just the second Northern State wrestler in program history to earn the award, following 2017 honoree Joe Gomez.
